​​     The Book Thief is a tale of rebellion and anarchy. In a time of despair, a small group of unruly adolescents decide to become a general juvenile annoyance to their community. They do so by stealing food from their neighbors and disturbing the peaceful surrounding ambiance. The setting takes place in Nazi Germany, 33 Himmel street. The leader of Germany at this time was Adolf Hitler. Hitler's Nazis were the antagonists of the story and bring trouble to Liesel's life. Liesel, the protagonist of the story becomes friends with a boy her age named Rudy.
